A programme was organized by ICAR-KVK, Ri-Bhoi to celebrate on “International Women’s Day” on 8th of March 2024 under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress" to aware and mark the importance of women in the region that was attended by 250 numbers of women farmers and entrepreneur from different SHGs’ and FPOs of Ri-Bhoi district. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK, Ri-Bhoi who enlightened and highlighted the different roles played by women for overall development of a family and society. Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI , Zone-VII, Umiam also highlighted to investment for education, healthcare and financial empowerment of women for the progress in future generation. Dr Meghna Sarma, SMS(Agronomy) highlighted the role of women in the society and pave ways for the future generation. She encouraged the farm women to come forward and fight for their rights .Dr. M. S. Baruah, Shri B. Mukhim, Dr P. Bordoloi were also attended the programme. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Smt. Jessica Dohtdong, of KVK-RiBhoi.
